What is Home Assistant?
Home Assistant is open-source home automation software that runs on hardware in your own home rather than in a company's cloud. It connects devices from different manufacturers into one system, which is why it can unify lighting, climate, locks, cameras and sensors that would otherwise each need their own app. Because it runs locally, it keeps working when your internet does not.
I set up Home Assistant myself. Can you take it over?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people call us. We audit what you have built, move it onto hardware that will not fall over, fix the fragile parts, add proper backups and documentation, and extend it where you want to go. Your work is kept, not thrown out.
Does Home Assistant work with Apple Home, Alexa or Google?
Yes. It can expose devices to Apple Home, Alexa and Google Assistant, so household members keep using whatever they already prefer while the automation logic lives in one place. Matter and Thread devices are supported directly.
What happens when an update breaks something?
That is exactly what a supported installation is for. Updates are applied deliberately rather than automatically, with backups taken first and breaking changes reviewed before they reach your house — rather than discovering the problem when a light stops responding.
